Junior Java Developer

1 · Your tasks

• Use Java 11, Spring Boot and JPA to add new REST endpoints and keep the existing ones working
• Pair with senior developers to cover new code with unit tests (JUnit, Mockito)
• Fix defects from QA and production queues with guided root cause analysis
• Each day, tell the team what you are working on (standup), join the sprint meetings, and look over other people's code before it is merged

2 · The project

Project: Feature development on internal servicing tools within a mature Spring Boot codebase.

3 · Work papers we accept

USC, GC, EAD, OPT, STEM OPT accepted.

USC:

U.S. citizen.

GC:

green card holder (a lawful permanent resident of the U.S.).

EAD:

short for Employment Authorization Document. This USCIS card lets you take a job in the U.S.

OPT:

Optional Practical Training. F-1 students use it to gain job experience in their field after school.

STEM OPT:

added OPT time for STEM grads (science, tech, engineering, math). Only E-Verify employers can offer it.

4 · Words to know

Contract:

the job runs for a planned period. Here that period is 12 months or more.

W2:

you are on the payroll, and tax is taken from each paycheck.

C2C:

short for corp-to-corp. Your own company sends the invoice and receives the payment.

Onsite:

you work at the office. "5 days/week" means five office days each week.

401(k):

a retirement savings plan. "With match" means the employer adds money too.

PTO:

paid time off for rest, travel or personal days.

FSA/HSA:

accounts that let you set aside pre-tax money for health costs.
